KL City Grand Prix inaugural event: Chaz Mostert - the man to beat!
Kuala Lumpur: Following the unfortunate delay, it is official, and the wait is over. Our beloved Kuala Lumpur city centre has put on its racing attire and is now in an all race mode. KL City Grand Prix is finally commencing this weekend, and today saw an inaugural event to set the tone for what is to come next. The roads were closed, the ambience was set and the adrenaline was on an all time high. The event featured Formula Masters, KL GT City Cup and Lamborghini Super Trofeo Cup alongside Australian V8 Supercars exhibition run.
For this rain-affected exhibition run, Prodrive Racing Australia's Chaz Mostert emerged as the man to beat for the 20 minute session which was a clear 1 minute 36.102 second better than the second favourite, Triple Eight's Craig Lowndes.
Scott McLaughlin (Volvo) finished third, Will Davison (Erebus) came in fourth and Todd Kelly with his Nissan bagged in the final spot. This action will continue tomorrow for the “real deal” - a qualifying session followed by a non-championship race.
