Kia EV9 officially launched in Malaysia - Starting from RM367k, 6/7seater, 380hp/700Nm, 505km range

KUALA LUMPUR: After numerous previews and pre-order events, Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd has now officially launched its second Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in Malaysia, the Kia EV9. The highly anticipated SUV comes with a confirmed starting price of RM368,888.00.

The strikingly designed EV will be available in two fully-imported (CBU) variants, both in the sporty GT-Line trim and featuring the same powertrain. The main difference lies in the seating configurations: the seven-seater variant is priced at RM369,668 on-the-road without insurance, while the six-seater variant is slightly higher at RM374,668. The additional RM5,000 for the six-seater provides two individual Relaxion seats that are powered and equipped with ottoman features, enhancing comfort and luxury.

The Kia EV9, Kia's first three-row electric SUV, is constructed on the E-GMP platform. Its dimensions are impressive, standing at 1,755 mm in height, 1,980 mm in width, and 5,010 mm in length, with a wheelbase of approximately 3,100 mm. For comparison, this places the EV9 close in size to the Toyota Alphard, offering a substantial presence on the road.

In terms of design, the EV9 features the “Opposites United” design philosophy with a bold front end known as the Digital Tiger Face, complemented by star-map headlights. The rear end showcases a full-width taillight, giving it a distinctly futuristic look.

Inside, the EV9 is equipped with dual 12.3-inch infotainment screens with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a 5-inch display for climate control. Additionally, there are physical buttons for easy operation of the air conditioning and a 14-speaker Meridian audio system.

Mechanically, the KIA EV9 which is an All Wheel Drive vehicle is powered by a 99.8kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a range of 505 km per full charge. It comes with a dual-motor setup producing a combined output of 380 hp and 700 Nm of torque.

With the help of an 11 kW AC socket, the Kia EV9 GT-Line achieves a 10-80% state of charge in approx eight hours. Alternatively, the 350 kW DC unit delivers the same charge level in just 24 minutes, showcasing its rapid charging capabilities.

For safety, the EV9 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including High Beam Assist, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (front, rear, and side), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, driver attention warning, Lane Following Assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist.

Interestingly, the vehicle also features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) system that can generate an output of up to 3.6 kWh.

The Kia EV9, which is fully imported from Korea, is available in five distinct colors: Ocean Blue, Snow White Pearl, Pebble Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, and Iceberg Green.

Both variants are backed by Kia Malaysia's comprehensive warranties, including a five-year/150,000-km coverage for the vehicle and an eight-year/160,000-km warranty for the battery.
