Kia Carnival awarded with top honours for its looks

KUALA LUMPUR: The global jury panel at GOOD DESIGN recently recognised the Carnival for its looks with top honours.

Karim Habib, Head of Kia Design Center, said, “Securing these GOOD DESIGN awards is an endorsement of the approach we took with the styling of the Kia EV6 and Kia Carnival and is a tribute to the collaborative efforts of our talented international design team. It truly has been a pivotal year for us; we launched our brand new design philosophy ‘Opposites United’, the ethos of which is already transforming our cars, and we are determined to ensure Kia keeps challenging the boundaries of automotive design.”

Kia unveiled the 4th-gen Carnival a while back and back then too it was highly appreciated for its appealing exterior design that includes striking lighting units and unique C-pillar garnish that really pops out.

Designed at the automaker’s California-based design studio, the Carnival much like the brand’s recent and highly successful models (Seltos, Telluride, and Sorento) wears a bold and boxy appearance and showcases a similar design language as well. Meaning, it gets the same premium level of refinement, flexibility, and savvy technology.

On the inside, the Carnival offers the best-in-class passenger and cargo room, thus making it the perfect choice for running day’s errands and adventures.

In Malaysia, the Kia Carnival retails for RM 196,341 and is powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine making a maximum power of 199 hp along with a peak torque of 440 Nm. The drive is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission unit.

On a similar note, joining the new Carnival in the 2021 GOOD DESIGN Awards is the new Kia EV6. This fully-electric Kia is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia this year by Bermaz Auto/Dinamika Jaya Motor.
