JAECOO J7 nationwide roadshow begins in Malaysia; launch slated for H1 2024

KUALA LUMPUR: JAECOO, the luxury sub-brand of Chery, made waves earlier this year with the debut of its highly anticipated SUVs, the J7 and J8, marking its entry into the Malaysian automotive market. As part of its grand arrival, the automaker has now embarked on a nationwide roadshow showcasing its flagship model, the J7.

The SUV is being showcased to the public for the first time during The JAECOO Premiere Experience, which commenced at The Waterfront, Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday, March 9, and will continue until Sunday, March 17, 2024. The event is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

The JAECOO J7 launch in Malaysia is scheduled for the first half of 2024. Notably, Malaysia will be the first Southeast Asian market to receive the JAECOO following a global rollout in Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Central and South America. 

Speaking about the opportunity the brand sees in Malaysia, President JAECOO Malaysia Leo Chen, shared, “The JAECOO brand was conceived based on insights about an emerging consumer group – fearless, trailblazers, ambitious individuals. After a great deal of research and analysis, we believe that JAECOO will capture the attention of this new unconventional consumer group, which we call the new urban elite. They are young at heart, and successful in their careers and in life. At the same time, they want to enjoy good quality of life and express their individuality through unique experiences.”

 

As confirmed earlier, JAECOO will operate as a stand-alone brand in Malaysia, backed by a robust network of new independent JAECOO dealerships nationwide. That means its distribution and dealers will be separated from the makers of the Omoda 5. According to the automaker, the brand’s debut coincides with rising SUV demand in Malaysia. In 2023, SUVs made up almost 30% of the passenger vehicle market and the trend is set to continue in 2024 and beyond, as per the Malaysia Automotive Association.

A brief on the upcoming JAECOO J7

• The JAECOO J7 is a rebadged model of the Chery Tansuo 06 with unique exterior touches like a chrome-plated grille, huge bumpers, and 19-inch “Aurora-inspired” alloy wheels
• It is an “Intelligent Off-Road SUV” equipped with the unique ARDIS (All Road Drive Intelligent System), which combines global research and development capabilities with intelligent technology, helping drivers feel confident about handling different types of roads

• The SUV features an intelligent cabin with an advanced 14.8-inch panoramic screen integrated with Qualcomm 8155 flagship chipset, an interactive W-HUD (Windshield Head-Up Display), an industry-leading 1.1 m2 large panoramic sunroof with ten powerful adjustment functions, a 50W wireless smartphone fast charging, a Sony sound system, and 64-colour rhythmic ambient lights

• Powering the JAECOO J7 is a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine generating a maximum power of 197 hp and a peak torque of 290 Nm
