Isuzu D-Max takes 5 top awards in just 10 months in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Since its global debut in October 2019, this all-new third-generation Isuzu D-Max pickup truck has impressed test drive editors and also buyers with its impressive level of sophistication, comfort, and off-road capability.
In just 10 months from its Malaysian launch date, this new Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain swept no less than five “Pick-up Truck of the Year” titles in Malaysia alone.
The first and most prominent award came from DSF.my and its team of editors who test drove the D-Max against all the available rivals and gave it the coveted title of VOTY Pickup Truck Of The Year.
As the months progressed, editors from other media titles, Carplus, Carlist, Rider ATH, and Wapcar picked the Isuzu as the worthy titleholder for its impressive ability to bring the pick-up truck experience to a whole new level.
This D-Max is not winning awards only in Malaysia, in January 2019 it was awarded ‘Pick-up of the Year’ 2019 by the UK based Pick-up & 4x4 Pro, in June 2020 it won Best Of The Best in Australia, in December 2021 it took the 2021-2022 Auto Focus People’s Choice Awards (AFPCA) and Media Choice Awards (AFMCA) in the Philippines and in November 2021 C magazine gave it the Best In Class Pickup award.
The above are just a handful of the many awards this pickup truck has been getting from almost every country it is being sold.
In Malaysia, the new flagship variant – The X-Terrain – has suitably expanded the global truck manufacturer’s appeal to reach newcomers to pick-up truck ownership.
Despite the acute shortfall of the D-Max supply due to the global semiconductor shortage, 713 owners took delivery of their new X-Terrain, making it the 2nd-most popular model in Isuzu Malaysia’s line-up after the immensely versatile and highly capable 1.9-litre 4x4 Premium model that chalked up 842 units in sales.
Urban centres of the Klang Valley and Kota Kinabalu predictably had the biggest appetite for the new flagship model, taking up more than half of the nationwide total.
This new X-Terrain variant has repeatedly been dubbed a revolutionary truck having redefined the landscape of the pick-up truck industry, combining next-level comfort, refinement, and safety in a package that doesn’t compromise on Isuzu’s characteristic versatility and overall dependability.
It is little wonder then that the new Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain has received a resounding thumbs-up from the automotive media who have come away impressed with the way the new model has presented itself as a modern, capable and pleasurable vehicle to drive.
With the strong demand momentum expected to continue through 2022, Isuzu Malaysia’s priorities will be to address the backlog of supply in order not to disappoint eager customers.
The all-new Isuzu D-Max range includes a variety of trims suited to individual requirements and desires starting with Single Cab variants that offer excellent workhorse capabilities to a wide selection of Double Cab models powered by the remarkable 1.9-litre engine or the powerful and capable 3.0-litre powerplant.
