IONIQ 5 receives first round of updates in Europe

KUALA LUMPUR: The Hyundai IONIQ 5 was introduced globally more than a year ago, and now the stunning EV has been updated only for good.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the key highlights of 2023 Ioniq 5?

The 2023 IONIQ 5 features a new variant, a video-based centre mirror, battery heater and conditioning system, and a larger battery.
  • 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 5 variant details?

The all-new 2023 IONIQ 5 is offered in four variants - SE Connect, Premium, Ultimate, and flagship Namsan Edition.
  • In its first update, the IONIQ 5 gets more power! The EV’s larger battery has hiked its capacity from 72.6kWh to 77.4kWh, increasing the car’s range to 507 km (WLTP-certified). In addition, the AWD variant benefits from a power hike, generating 321 hp.

Though these are small wins, a step forward is better than being constant. Also, these improvements bring the IONIQ 5 in line with the Kia EV6.

Other updates include the battery heater and conditioning system, now part of the standard feature list. This adjusts the EV’s battery temp to support optional charging conditions and helps improve charging performance in cold and hot weather conditions. Also, this feature gets activated when the driver enters a fast-charging point into the navigation system. The heat pump remains an optional inclusion.

Further, Hyundai is now offering the EV with a new video-based centre mirror depending on the variant. The camera embedded at the rear spoiler offers a clear, unobstructed view of the back. In addition, the conventional ORVM in the top variant is replaced with digital side mirrors.

That’s all the updates the IONIQ 5 has received in the Europe market. Unfortunately, for Malaysia, there is none. However, we are enjoying the EV as it is, as we are still not over its local arrival.
