Hyundai’s upcoming vehicle launch schedule revealed
KUALA LUMPUR: The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed several auto shows and car launches this year. Now, the auto-enthusiasts wonder that when the automakers will unveil the new additions to their lineups. A few days back, we published the upcoming vehicle line-up of Toyota which might be adjusted due to the pandemic situation. And today, we will list out the forthcoming models of Hyundai as per the leaked information reported by motorgraph.com.
The leaked document reveals that the firm is all set to showcase the seven new models in the next couple of months. It comprises two all-new cars, two performance models, two electric/electrified models, and one facelift model.
The most exciting among all is 2021 Tucson, which was previewed as the Vision T Concept last fall. The model is set for the global debut by August. It is expected to share the platform with the 2020 Sonata and will probably be powered by the same 2.5-litre four-cylinder mill producing 191 hp of maximum power. In addition to turbocharged, a plug-in version is also likely to launch.
The next on the list is all-new Genesis GV70, slated to debut in October this year. The new GV70 may adopt the powertrain range from its sibling G70 which includes a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo, 3.3-liter turbo V6, or 2.2-liter turbodiesel. As a mid-size offering in the Genesis lineup, it will lock horns with BMW X3, Audi Q5, Lexus RX, and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
Among the performance models, the speedy Elantra N is expected to debut in the coming June. The firm also planned to bring the high-performance version of Hyundai Kona just after that.
Coming to the Hyundai Santa Fe, which is expected to get a revised designing and also a hybrid powertrain option. The 2021 Santa Fe is slated to enter production in May. And last on the list is a small truck, Porter EV based on the Kona EV technology that will be launched this year.
While the leaked document unveils the upcoming plans of Hyundai and Genesis, but there are also the possibilities that COVID-19 could delay some of these plans.
