Hyundai unveils 45 EV Concept at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show
KUALA LUMPUR: It’s day two of the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and like the first one, today as well we got hold of some exciting cars and concepts. The one we’ll be discussing here is from Hyundai, it is a pure electric car and gives a glimpse of automaker’s future vision. Called the 45 EV concept, it sure is a twist on the 1974 icon, the Hyundai Pony Coupe Concept.
The number 45 means a lot more than just being a part of the concept name - the diamond-shaped silhouette both at the front and rear are cut at a 45-degree angle, a visual cue that the automaker claims to feature in its future EVs. This, Hyundai says, takes away complexity, celebrating minimalistic structure and clean lines of the original coupe concept.
The Hyundai concept’s style is based on the Sensuous Sportiness design theme, that is reflected through the car’s distinctive lattice radiator grille with kinetic cube lamp layout. At the rear end, the Hyundai concept showcases a steep fastback design that signifies dynamism and stability. The taillight design is the same as the headlights, and the car stands on massive two-tone wheels that go with a car’s modern retro look.
The concept gets more visual aids like a unique garnish present on the bottom of the door that signifies the 45 EV long-distance battery capability. Also, the active LED lights notify the driver about the remaining range.
Like most of the concept cars, the Hyundai 45 EV misses out on the side mirrors which the automaker says hamper visibility and collect dirt. The OVRM’s here are replaced by embedded turntable units that rotate the lens past a brush ensuring perfect visibility. The Camera Monitoring System enables self-driving features.
The ‘Style Set Free’ theme dominates the cabin that emphasizes on personalization of function and design. The cabin reflects the image of living space with ample use of wood, leather, and fabric, swivelling front seat, rear lounge chair-style bench, and a projection-beam infotainment system. The door pockets are spacious enough to carry laptops and tablets.
Hyundai has not revealed any technical details, so stay tuned for more updates.
