Hyundai Staria MPV more details are out
KUALA LUMPUR: Last week, Hyundai teased clearer pictures of its upcoming people mover, the Staria, which is known to be the successor of the Starex MPV. And today, it gave us an expansive look at the Staria's cabin, showcasing the spacious and versatile seating configuration and hi-tech appointments of the upcoming MPV.
"STARIA will provide a completely new experience and value proposition to customers through its unprecedented design and innovative features," said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Hyundai Design. Inspired by the lounge of a cruise ship, Hyundai’s new MPV cabin gives a feel of luxurious and relaxed space. Its innovative design architecture, with expansive panoramic windows and lower beltlines, stimulates a spacious environment for passengers.
Hyundai will offer the Staria in three versions - Cargo (3 to 5 seater), Lounge (7 to 9 seater), and Tourer (9 to 11 seater). At the moment, the automaker has not revealed the images of the 11-seater Staria, although it has confirmed that this bus-like configuration will only be offered in the home market. Hyundai’s subsidiary Kia also offers the Carnival MPV in an 11-seater layout.
The nine-seater variant will have 180-degree swiveling second-row seats, which will allow occupants to turn and interact with the passengers sitting in the third-row. In the fewer passenger spaces, the customers would also be able to choose a one-touch relaxation control for the second-row that delivers a more reclined position and long footrests.
In terms of technology, the upcoming Hyundai Staria will have a modern SUV-like dashboard design with the placements like a wide 10.25-inch main touchscreen display dominating the centre stack and a second broad display behind the wheel acting as an instrument panel. A button-type electronic shift lever and ambient lighting will also be included in the tech features list.
On the exterior, the MPV gets a large rectangular grille, square-shaped LED headlights, and a long, horizontal daytime running light bar, At the back, a pair of sliding rear doors, a tall roofline, and vertically-positioned tail lights are the main attractions. The dual-tone alloys add a dose of premiumness to the MPV’s exterior design.
As for the mechanical setup, still, there are no official words, however, mild-hybrid and all-electric options are likely to be there. For more information, we have to wait for the Staria global premiere, which is slated for the first half of 2021.
