Hyundai Stargazer X arrives in the Philippines; Will it come to Malaysia?

KUALA LUMPUR: Globally revealed at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show earlier this year, the Hyundai Stargazer X has made its way to the Philippines. It is a sportier version of the standard Stargazer MPV, which competes against the likes of the Toyota Veloz, Mitsubishi Xpander, and Honda BR-V. 

The all-new Stargazer X confirms its unique identity with a new 3D stacked front grille, restyled bumper and hood with character lines, and a black roof with rails. The MPV also features H-shaped tail lights framed with black lamp bezels, all-around body cladding, and a new set of 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Further setting the ‘X’ model apart is the improved ground clearance that measures 200 mm (15 mm more than the standard model).

When it comes to the interior, the new Hyundai Stargazer X sports a distinctive piano black dashboard panel, a new overhead console lamp, and red stitching on the seats. In terms of equipment, it gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay,  a Supervision 4.2-inch TFT LCD panel, remote engine start, wireless charger, electronic parking brake, 8-speaker Bose sound system.

Under the hood, the MPV lies the tried and tested 1.5-litre Smartstream G engine that generates 115 hp of maximum power at 6,300 rpm and 144 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via an IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission).

Parts of the safety kit are - ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, vehicle stability, hill start assist, forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning,  high-beam assist, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, blind spot avoidance, rear-cross traffic alert, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a reverse camera and front and rear parking sensors.

The Hyundai Stargazer X is priced at P 1.348 million (approximately equal to RM 112,470) in the Philippines.

Will Hyundai introduce the Stargazer lineup in Malaysia?

There is no official information yet available on the arrival of the Hyundai Stargazer in Malaysia. However, the MPV is meant for the ASEAN market and is on sale in Thailand, Indonesia, and now in the Philippines, which indicates a strong possibility of its local arrival.
