Hyundai plans to unveil 6 new EVs in India by 2028
KUALA LUMPUR: Attractive subsidies by the local government and rising fuel prices are the two main reasons for the sudden surge in the demand for electric vehicles. To tap this opportunity, the automakers are coming up with their new EV strategies, and one of them is Hyundai, which recently announced its plan to launch six EVs in India by 2028. One of them is the facelifted Kona EV, which recently made its debut in Malaysia.

Speaking about the technical aspects of the E-GMP, the platform supports battery packs of up to 77.4-kWh, which provides a range of around 500 km (on the WLTP cycle). It gets charged from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes using ultra-fast DC charging. The platform supports both single motor and dual motor hardware. And, when it comes to performance, the automaker claims that the models based on this architecture will be able to hit a top speed of 260 kmph.
Hyundai plans to disburse an amount of Rs 4,000 crore (approximately equal to RM 2.2 billion) for its electrification journey in India, which also includes the development of supporting infrastructure.
