Hyundai Palisade gets two new trims in Korea
KUALA LUMPUR: The Hyundai Palisade is one of the best three-row crossovers one can buy. It’s good looking, a dream to drive, and has a premium cabin that seems to be taken from a luxury vehicle. Now, making the deal even more attractive are its two new trims - Calligraphy and VIP. But, at the moment, they are only limited to the Korean market.
Both the Palisade new trims get new visual cues giving the crossover a more upscale look. Included in the list are - triangular grille inserts, large lower intakes, full-width chrome skid plate, unique 20-inch wheels, and wider rear chrome diffuser. All these features separate these two models from their base siblings. Also, the automaker has introduced a new Rain Forest paint exclusively for the two new trims.
On the inside, there is a head-up display and a 12.3-inch digital display that’s optional for lower trims but standard in the new ones. The Nappa leather in Calligraphy and VIP units are offered in three tones - Beige, Black, and Khaki. The second-row bench is replaced by leather-covered captain chairs, so large families may have to look for other options.
Hyundai Palisade VIP is the same as the Palisade Calligraphy model but only on steroids. The former gets the same visual cues along with standard Nappa leather like the later. The only difference being the VIP model gets warmed and cooled cupholders, a second-row centre console with an air purifier, wireless phone charger, comfortable headrest with built-in speakers, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two displays.
As for under the hood configuration, both the Palisade VIP and Calligraphy trims are powered by the 3.8-litre V6 powertrain that generates 291 PS and 355 Nm of torque. The said unit is paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the Korean buyers will get the option of a 2.2-litre four-cyl diesel mill generating 200 hp and 437 Nm of torque.
Currently, the Hyundai Malaysia lineup misses the Palisade crossover, but someday if it does come to the local market, we would love to see all the trims - new ones included.
