Hyundai Mobis introduces 'Moving Panoramic Screens'

KUALA LUMPUR: The dynamic world of automobiles unveils exciting developments periodically. The latest one is a giant panoramic display introduced by Hyundai Mobis (the parts and service arm of Hyundai). This display sets a new standard for futuristic digital cockpits and offers a more intuitive and convenient interface.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is M.VICS?

M.VICS is an abbreviation for MOBIS Vision of Integrated Cockpit System, which integrates various display panels and technologies.
  • How many patents did Hyundai Mobis file for M.VICS 5.0?

Hyundai Mobis filed nine new patents during the development of M.VICS 5.0. These include patents on parts, mechanical package design, and UX technology.
  • Dubbed M.VICS 5.0, this revolutionary display is the latest version of the brand’s next-generation integrated driver system, which was introduced in 2021.

Developed under the motto "All You Can See," the new system combines various display technologies. It integrates the entire front panel from the left side of the driver's seat to the right side of the passenger seat into one wide, borderless screen. Drivers can also adjust the display size and angle based on their driving modes.

The M.VICS 5.0 consists of five display panels, including

    • 27-inch main screen for dashboard navigation information, and media content,
    • 12.3-inch high-definition screen for the front passenger
    • 7-inch screen displaying various vehicle status information and button controls

All these screams are smoothly connected to offer a spacious environment. For added convenience, the company has added a projection display below the large screen.

While all these displays can work independently according to their purpose, they can also combine into a single screen and move vertically when needed. It features the following three modes: Drive mode, in which the bottom part of the panel slides below and transforms into a smaller display; Theatre mode, and Relax mode, in which the panels extend upward for watching media content and resting, respectively.

Hyundai Mobis M.VICS 5.0 also increases the vehicle's safety quotient. The wide display covers the entire front of the vehicle and integrates lighting technology on both sides; it warns the driver about potential rear-side collisions to prevent accidents.

The system also offers motion sickness care using different colours. Cameras mounted above the driver's seat and on the steering wheel watch for signs of drowsiness or distraction and give emergency alerts. Safety features like airbags in the steering wheel, roof, and knees are included for passenger safety.

With the M.VICS 5.0, Hyundai Mobis aims to revolutionize in-car entertainment, navigation, and connectivity.
