Hyundai LaFesta EV unveiled at the 2019 Auto Guangzhou

KUALA LUMPUR: Beijing Hyundai, a JV between Hyundai Motor Company and BAIC Motor, had taken the wraps off the new LaFesta EV at 2019 Auto Guangzhou, which was held between November 22nd to December 1st in China.

It is an all-electric version of the standard LaFesta, which is placed below the Sonata. Reports suggest that the new Hyundai LaFesta EV will hit the Chinese outlets by early next year.

The manufacturer has not spoken much about its mechanical department. But it confirms that the Hyundai LaFesta EV will get a 56.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, which can provide an overall riding range around 490 km on a single charge. It gets an electric motor, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 204 PS along with a peak torque of 310 Nm.

The “Sensuous Sportiness” design of the Hyundai LaFesta EV differs a bit with the standard model. The former does not have a traditional grille at the front and the Hyundai logo takes its place on the charging port. There are LED headlamps and chrome trim also. On the lower apron, there are side air inlets and vertical fog lamps only.

There is a new bumper at the rear with a more aerodynamic appearance. No place for the exhaust outlet, as it is an all-electric vehicle. It is provided with subtle “diffuser” instead of it. Moreover, the aerodynamic efficiency is further increased by the extravagant, fan-style wheels.

Inside the cabin, the Hyundai LaFesta EV’s layout is identical to the standard one. There is a seven-inch instrument cluster display, which is further coupled with a 10.25-inch infotainment system. The unique feature is the design of the centre console, which looks different from the standard model as it has to accommodate space for the shift-by-wire gear selector.

The Hyundai LaFesta EV comes with an array of safety and driver assistance features including the forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist and safe exit warning.
