Hyundai Kona Electric now on sale in Malaysia at a starting price of RM 149,888

KUALA LUMPUR: The official distributor of Hyundai cars in Malaysia, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors has finally launched the Kona Electric in the country. The EV is now on sale in three variants - e-Lite, e-Plus, and e-Max powered by different battery packs. 

The Hyundai Kona Electric price for the base e-Lite starts at RM 149,888, the e-Plus retails for RM 169,888, and for the range-topping e-Max, customers need to shell out RM 199,888. The mentioned prices include the import, excise duty, and SST exemptions recently announced by the government.

. Using the 50 kW DC fast charging, the EV can be charged from zero to 80 % in 60 minutes.

On the exterior, the Malaysia-spec Kona Electric gets LED headlamps with daytime-running lights, blacked-out roof, roof rails, LED tail lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. The list of colour options includes -  Ignite Red, Atlas White, Dive in Jeju, Dark Knight, Cyber Gray Metallic, Galastic Gray, Surfy Blue Metallic, Pulse Red Pearl, and Jungle Green.

Inside the cabin, all the variants of the Kona EV are equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, 8.0-inch infotainment unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, single-zone climate control, leather upholstery, remote start, paddle shifters and more. In the higher trims, customers also get powered front seats, head-up display, and wireless charging.

When it comes to safety, the Hyundai Kona Electric gets several advanced driver-assistance systems, depending on the variant you choose. These include -
