Hyundai IONIQ Revealed at Geneva Motor Show 2016 with Revolutionary Technologies
Kuala Lumpur: Taking a step forward and keeping the promise made during its inception of providing cutting-edge technology, Hyundai has finally announced the all-new IONIQ project. The company wisely chose a ground as big as Geneva Motor Show 2016 and showcased 3 Hyundai IONIQ models in front of huge crowd. According to the South Korean automobile company, the IONIQ is an ambitious project which would give a new approach and direction to the auto industry. This long-term research and development project is among those few projects which would bring a revolution and redefine the future of mobility. Dignitaries from Hyundai Motors graced the unveiling ceremony of the new Hyundai IONIQ prototypes with their presence.
New IONIQ is the first car ever which is arriving with a choice of 3 alternative-fuel powertrains. Explaining this during the ceremony, Euisun Chung - the Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motors cited, “The future mobility that we anticipate is about staying connected with our daily lives without any time and space limitations. We are determined to turn this thought into reality so that everyone can enjoy a better and more fulfilling life”. To bring this into practicality, the new Hyundai IONIQ is engineered with futuristic technology. The 3 models – IONIQ Electric, IONIQ Hybrid and IONIQ Plug-in are not only challenging the technologies available till date but also all the automakers who never thought of bringing on something like this. Hyundai IONIQ Electric houses a 28 kWh lithium-ion-polymer battery which is capable of knocking out 120 PS of power and 295 Nm of torque.
With the idea of bringing ‘freedom in mobility’ through its four key directions - freedom of effortless access to mobility whenever and wherever, freedom from inconveniences and accidents, freedom of connectivity in everyday life during commutation and freedom from energy exhaustion and environmental pollution. From the other two models of IONIQ, the IONIQ Hybrid carries a combination of 2 power sources comprising a 1.6-litre GDI engine and a 32 kW electric motor. The 3rd model – the IONIQ Plug-in is powered by an 8.9 kWh lithium-ion-battery which is equally efficient.
The images and specs of the new IONIQ first floated in January 2016 and the company did not take a long time to unwrap all the 3 models in front of the customers. However, the officials from Hyundai Motors have kept their lips sealed on the arrival of the IONIQ production models in the auto market but, the auto experts believe that the company would not raise the anxiety level of its beloved customers and would do every possible thing to launch them by early 2017.
