KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier this year, Hyundai Motor Group grabbed the title of third largest automaker in the world in terms of sales. Combining the Hyundai Motor Co., premium brand Genesis, and affiliate company Kia, the South Korean group sold a total of 3.3 million cars globally. Well, the automaker aims to keep up the momentum by strengthening its EV lineup, fetching new titles and records every now and then.

The price for the Hyundai ioniq 6 starts at KRW 52 million (approximately equal to RM 173,066) in South Korea.Recently, Hyundai started accepting pre-orders for its upcoming electric car, the Ioniq 6, in South Korea and ended up with the first day’s bookings with a bag full of 37446 orders. This sets a new record for the automaker for hitting the highest pre-order sales figure in 24 hours.
It is significantly higher than the 23,760 pre-orders received by the Ioniq 5 in February 2021 and 21,000 bookings fetched by the Kia EV6 in April 2021 on the first day in Korea.

Introduced at the Busan Motor Show in July this year, the Ioniq 6 is based on the same E-GMP architecture, which underpins the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. However, it seems like the new EV’s innovative exterior and interior design language and the industry-leading driving range are what make it more attractive.

In the home market, it is offered in two versions - base-spec equipped with a 53.0-kWh battery pack and the longer-range trim loaded with a 77.4-kWh unit. The latter offers a WLTP-claimed drive range of 610 km. As for charging, Hyundai claims that the superfast DC charger will charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
When it comes to the drivetrain’s output and performance, the EV’s dual motor setup delivers a maximum power of 320 hp and a peak torque of 605 Nm of peak torque, allowing the car to hit a century sprint in 5.1 seconds. The EV has an amazingly low drag coefficient of 0.21.
The key features of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 comprise Parametric Pixel lights all around, a 12-inch full-touch infotainment unit with over-the-air software updates, 2-inch customizable digital cluster. automatic climate control panel, 64-colour ambient lighting, a premium 8-speaker Bose sound system, an advanced navigation system with Blue Link Infotainment/Map updates, and a Hyundai SmartSense suite.
The latter packs Highway Driving Assist 2, Smart Cruise Control, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and many other advanced safety gears.
