Hyundai Ioniq 5 N caught undergoing a final round of testing; few inclusions revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has been in the news for a while now and we all have been waiting to see the performance version in person. Now, with the car undergoing final testing rounds at Nürburgring, it only seems a matter of time before the spicy N derivative makes its global debut.

The images of the Ioniq 5 N as seen in Nürburgring show the car with a rear windshield wiper which we think is a great inclusion and should be made a standard. Hopefully, Hyundai would include them in its regular electric crossover as well.

What else do we know about the upcoming Ioniq 5 N?

• The first-ever non-combustion engine N model from Hyundai is scheduled for launch later this year
• It gets a stiffer suspension setup which brings it closer to the road, thus giving it an appearance of an oversized hatchback
• Its design bits seem to include sportier-looking wheels, bigger brakes, and a roll cage behind the rear seat

• In terms of power, Hyundai’s Executive Technical Advisor Albert Bierman has revealed it to get a dual-motor setup good for around 600 hp
• It will come with artificial gear changes courtesy of a button-activated Virtual Grin Shift mode; enabling the sporty e-crossover to mimic the i30 N’s sensations
• The NSound Plus allows the EV to offer artificial sounds
  Owners will be able to add their own fake sounds which will be pumped by the audio system via the speakers
• The car will be installed through a dedicated drift mode that will adjust the torque distribution at each wheels thanks to an electronic rear limited-slip differential

• Four drive modes will be on offer, namely Eco, Normal, Sport, and N; each with its separate damping, steering weight, and throttle response
