Hyundai introduces a new mini-SUV in India, the Exter
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai has unveiled an all-new SUV in the Indian market, called the Exter. It falls in the sub-four-metre SUV category and slots below the Hyundai Venue in the brand’s lineup in India.

The Hyundai Exter is expected to hit the Indian showroom in June this year, with prices likely to start from Rs 6 lakh (approximately equal to RM 32,780).While the dimensions of the new Hyundai SUV are yet to be revealed, it seems almost close to the Hyundai Casper introduced in Korea in 2021. For reference, the Casper measures 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,400 mm.
Hyundai India has started accepting bookings for the new Exter. It is offered In five variants - EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect. The engine options include -
- 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with five-speed manual transmission
- 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with five-speed automatic transmission
- 1.2-litre CNG engine paired with manual transmission
The power and torque outputs of the Exter’s engine options have not been officially announced yet.
With inspiration from an active and trendy lifestyle, the new Hyundai SUV has been designed to present a modern take on the Hyundai SUV life. The exterior features -
- A sleek grille edged by H-Signature LED DRLs
- Squarish projector headlamps positioned on the bumper
- Diamond-cut alloy wheels in blacked-out wheel arches
- Body cladding all around
- Sporty skid plates on both ends
The Hyundai Exter colour palette comprises - six monotone and three dual-tone exterior colours. These include a unique Ranger Khaki option described as reflective of “one’s exploration desires while celebrating the thrill of setting out in the world.”
In terms of creature comforts, the SUV is likely to feature a large touchscreen infotainment unit, automatic climate control, wireless charging, electric sunroof, cruise control, six airbags, a rear parking camera, advanced driver-assistance systems, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The SUV is expected to hit the Indian showroom in June this year, with prices likely to start from Rs 6 lakh (approximately equal to RM 32,780).
