Hyundai extends warranties for 1.2 million vehicles globally
KUALA LUMPUR: As a part of its social distancing campaign, Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. is extending warranties for over 1.2 million vehicles across 175 markets worldwide.
Eligible cars with warranties that come to an end between March and June 2020 would benefit from the extension for up to three months, according to the auto manufacturer. However, it is to be noted that the warranty extension can differ between nations.
Hyundai’s warranty expansion decision comes amid a global reaction to the outbreak of coronavirus, which has caused many countries to take precautionary measures like shutting down of non-essential facilities.
Hyundai Motor Company, executive vice president and head of Customer Experience Division, Wonhong Cho, said, “We appreciate that many of our customers may have limited or no access to vehicle servicing during these extraordinary times.” He further added that “With these warranty extensions, we wish to set their minds at ease regarding eligibility for warranty repairs and related services in the coming months. Not only do we care about our customers’ health and safety, we care about the ‘health’ and safety of their vehicles as well.”
By the warranty extension programme, Hyundai expects to address any concern customers may have about not being able to get their car serviced or for warranty repairs while adhering to physical distancing and stay-at-home guidelines set by the local and federal government.
Hyundai says that for the well-being of its customers and employees is high-priority. Also, the company is closely monitoring coronavirus developments and is complying with all the precautionary measures to mitigate the spread of the deadly virus.
In Malaysia following the government’s order to expand the MCO period till April 28 to curb COVID-19, Hyundai has announced to close all its sales outlets and service centres including the Customer Care Centre. In case the customers require any assistance during this period, they can reach the Sales and Service Managers via phone, email, or online platform. Hyundai Roadside Assist will remain active and can be contacted on 1-300-13-2000.
