Hyundai Casper Van introduced in Korea with 940 litres of cargo volume

KUALA LUMPUR:  With dimensions less than our Perodua Ativa, the Hyundai Casper little SUV made its official debut in September last year. This small Korean model received a huge accolade for its design and features, which also converted into a high number of orders on the first day of its launch in the home market. Now, the Korean automaker expands the Casper range with the launch of a two-seater LCV variant.

Dubbed as the Casper Van, this pint-sized commercial vehicle targets those professionals who are looking for a stylish van. It is priced at 13.75 million won (approx RM 47,824), which is almost equal to its passenger-ready sibling.

On the exterior, the van looks identical to the regular model, however, on the interior, it gets some major modifications as per the needs of the small businessmen. In place of the rear seats, the vehicle offers a big cargo compartment that measures 940 litres. Just like other regular vans, it also features a partition separating the front seats from the load area and metal bars protecting the windows and rear windshield.

Hyundai offers the Casper Van with two engine options - a1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine delivering a maximum power output of 76 PS and a peak torque of 95 Nm and a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder GDi unit with 100 PS and 172 Nm. Both engines are mated to a four-speed automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels.

Apart from these, the automaker also offers a number of optional accessories with the van at an additional cost. These include - 

• Heated steering wheel and auto-dimming rearview mirror - 330,000 won (RM 1,149)
• Heated and ventilated seats with leather-style upholstery - 600,000 won (RM 2090)
• Attractive front bumper- 950,000 won (RM 3,307)
• Thule metal roof rack - 550,000 won (RM 1,915)
