Hyundai Casper mini-SUV first official images are out
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai is geared up for the launch of a new mini-SUV in the home market, called Casper. This is known to be the brand’s smallest SUV based on the K1 compact car platform, which also underpins the i10 hatch available in India. Dimensionally, the SUV measures 3,595 mm in length, 1,595 mm in width, 1,575 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2400 mm. These are almost similar to the Kia Picanto with a slightly tall stance.
In terms of design, the car has a youthful presence with a prominent radiator grille on the front edged by round headlamp clusters, which also carry LED DRLs. The bonnet has a clamshell-shaped teamed up with sharp LEDs for turn indicators, while the bumper looks busy with a wide central air inlet.
Further, the curvy body lines, sizable wheel arches, and sturdy roof rails underline the sporty character of the car. At the rear end, it gets modern-looking LED tail lights.
Regarding the Hyundai Casper interior, no official images and details are present yet. On the contrary, Hyundai unveiled its engine specifications for the South Korean market. It will be offered in two petrol engine choices, first is a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated mill, while the other one is its turbocharged version. The former will churn out a maximum output of 75 hp whereas the turbo version will be good enough for making 99 hp. As for the transmission, a four-speed torque converter AT and a five-speed MT will be on the cards.
About the Hyundai Casper price. Hyundai did not reveal anything yet, although pre-bookings of the SUV are now open in Korea, where it is likely to hit the roads by the end of this year. After that, the automaker has plans to roll out the car in the Indian market to take on the Tata Punch, Suzuki Ignis, and Renault KWID.
