Hyundai Appoints Ex-Lamborghini Executive for Their Genesis Brand
Kuala Lumpur: Hyundai recently announced that it would be hiring the former Lamborghini executive Manfred Fitzgerald for their luxury brand Genesis. Fitzgerald was at the position of Director for brand and design with the Italian automaker. At Hyundai Motors, he is placed at the position of Senior Vice President and would be looking out the global strategy for Genesis. He has served Lamborghini for a stretch of 12 years and then left in 2011 to join German TV maker Loewe. In 2013, he started his own consultancy firm with the name of 'The Brand and Design Company'.
At Genesis, Fitzgerald would be having a key role in brand strategy, marketing and other business operations as well. Fitzgerald would be joining Peter Schreyer, who is the Chief Designing Officer of Hyundai and has designed it's Genesis G90, along with Luc Donckerwolke who is also incidentally a former Lamborghini design director. Luc Donckerwolke has also penned down a lot of designs for Volkswagen and recently left his job as head of design at Bentley to join Genesis. Schreyer is also a former Volkswagen employee and is known to have created some iconic designs like Audi TT and Volkswagen new Beetle. Initially, Fitzgerald would be reporting to Cho Won-hong who is the chief marketing officer at Hyundai since 2010.
Hyundai is known to be world's fifth largest automaker which recently announced its luxury sub brand 'Genesis'. Now this move of the South Korean automaker to hire Fitzgerald for Genesis would definitely take this brand to a new level.
