Hyundai Alcazar teaser released, debut set for next week

Hyundai Alcazar teaser released, debut set for next week

KUALA LUMPUR: It seems that the South Korean automaker Hyundai knows well that expanding the SUV range will only bring more customers and expand sales. That’s why it is ready to add one more seven-seater model in the ever-growing SUV/crossover segment. Dubbed as the Hyundai Alcazar, the upcoming vehicle is a three-row version of the Hyundai Creta (iX25), available in the Indian market, which has already entered its second generation.

Hyundai recently released new teaser images of the upcoming SUV and also revealed some crucial information about it. So, let's get into that.

The teaser shows off the rear end styling of the Alcazar, where it gets a distinctive tailgate design with wider wraparound LED tail lights, completely different from the setup seen on the donor model. About the front fascia, no official glimpse is there; however, the spy shots hint at a different grille with a mesh pattern. Overall, the vehicle looks more upright than the Creta, with a longer overhang because of the car’s increased length.

Inside the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar, we can see a dashboard identical to that of the five-seater Creta, which is likely to get paired with the darker upholstery with a black and brown theme. The teaser sketch previews the six-seat layout of the SUV with only two seats in the second row and a floor-mounted console in the centre. The setup suggests that it will have some sort of tumble-and-slide functionality to provide access to the third row. A 7-seater configuration will also be on offer with a bench-type middle-row just like the Creta.

On the features front, the Alcazar specs sheet may include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster display, built-in air purifier, ventilated front seats, powered tailgate, front parking sensors, AC vents and USB ports for the third row, and a 360-degree parking camera.

Set to rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari, the Alcazar is expected to borrow the mechanical bits from the donor car. If it comes true, the available options will include 140 PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 115 PS 1.5-litre diesel engines. The turbo mill could be offered with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox while the diesel mill might get the option of both six-speed torque converter automatic and six-speed manual.

The 2021 Hyundai Alcazar will make a global debut on April 6, 2021, before hitting the Indian showrooms later this year.
