How stunning the McLaren MCL35M looks in Gulf colours!
KUALA LUMPUR: The Gulf colour blue and orange combo seem to work really well for racing cars and look equally breathtaking on the track. And everything seems to work out very well when one of the tones, orange in this case is symbolic to the automaker. The end result, an awe-striking McLaren masterpiece that is scheduled for Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.
This one of a kind retro livery on the MCL35M is the product of a strategic partnership between McLaren Racing and Gulf Oil International. The said collaboration is a year old and it’s not like the two parties are strangers, as they have been working together since Bruce McLaren’s day, i.e., the union goes back to the 1960s.
However, this will be the first time a McLaren race car will be spotted in Gulf’ recognisable hues. Prior to this, we saw the F1 GTR Longtail in iconic blue and Fluro orange splash at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This weekend retro look won’t be complete without the drivers, Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo wearing matching suits and helmets. Wait, that’s not all. The team has also designed merchandise along the same lines for the fans. Great, right?
As per McLaren, 'the evocative livery marks the return of the sport to one of Formula One’s most emblematic grand prix and brings fans one of the most recognisable and admired motorsport liveries of all time'.
We must say McLaren will truly be making a statement this weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix.
