Honda Malaysia Hits Record Breaking Sales Figure with 500k Units Since 2000
Kuala Lumpur: Honda Malaysia recently announced that it is close to achieving a record-breaking annual sales figure of 85,000 units. The October 2015 year-to-date sales figure stood at 74,920 units. Moreover, it also managed to obtain a record breaking booking of 12,713 units for the month. Apart from that, it also continues to lead in the non-national carmaker segment.
The managing director and CEO of Honda Malaysia, Yoichiro Ueno said, “Since our establishment in Malaysia in the year 2000, Honda Malaysia has grown steadily and has reached the accumulated sales of 500,000 units. It is inspiring to know that we have spread the joy of driving a Honda vehicle to 500,000 Malaysians. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all Honda customers for their belief in the Honda brand”.
Out of the 500,000 units sold, Honda City and Honda Civic holds the majority of the portion. Honda City contributes to 40% of the share with 209,056 units sold while Honda Civic contributes 15% with 79,864 units being sold. The Honda HR-V which was launched in February this year also turned out to be a star performer with a sales figure of 16,115 units till now. Apart from that, the company's lineup also include Accord, Jazz, Odyssey and CR-V.

Nationwide, Honda Malaysia holds a huge dealer network of 86 dealers. A lot of expansions are also taking place for Honda Malaysia to support its operations. The automaker has also started its operations in East Malaysia from June 2015 with establishment of a new logistics hub in Sabah and Sarawak. A new regional office was also started this month in Kota Kinabalu. Apart from that its local assembly operations which is situated in Pegoh, Melaka has also been upgraded. This upgradation helped the automaker to increase its production capacity by 100,000 units.
