Honda HR-V e:HEV RS model is doing pretty good in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: It was only yesterday that Honda Malaysia launched the all-new Civic e:HEV RS, thus adding another hybrid model to its lineup after the HR-V e:HEV RS, City e:HEV RS, and City Hatchback e:HEV RS.

The 2022 Honda Civic e:HEV RS comes equipped with a 2.0-litre non-aspirated Atkinson-cycle engine and an i-MMD dual electric motor setup, combinedly producing 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque.With four e:HEV RS models in its lineup, it seems like the automaker is getting a pretty good response from customers for its hybrid range.
Giving clarification on the same, Honda Malaysia’s Director and CEO, Hironobu Yoshimura recently revealed that 11 percent of orders for the HR-V concerts to the range-topping e:HEV RS model.
Also when the new HR-V was launched in July 2022, the company revealed that out of the 20,000 bookings it received 20 percent were for the e:HEV RS variant.
Compared to the HR-V’s e-HEV RS variant, the ones for the City and City Hatchback didn’t enjoy success with only 5 percent and 8 percent orders in the first 10 months concerning their respective hybrid models.
The reason for the relatively low demand for the City and City Hatchback e:HEV RS models is believed to be their high asking price compared to the non-hybrid variants.
As for the recently launched, all-new Honda Civic e-HEV RS variant, the company revealed to have already received over 100 bookings with the numbers only rising further.
Also, Yoshimura revealed that the company has sold nearly 7,000 units since the car’s launch (Jan 2022), thus making it the market leader of the C-segment sedan arena.
A bit about the Honda e:HEV RS line-up
While the City, City Hatchback, and HR-V’s e-HEV RS variants are all powered by a 1.5-litre e:HEV hybrid unit which generates a maximum power of 108 hp (131hp on HR-V) and a peak torque of 253 Nm. The Civic e:HEV RS model, on the other hand, gets a bigger 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated direct-injection powertrain pumping 184 hp and 315 Nm of torque.
