Honda Civic 2016 Faces Piston Problem – Joins the 'Recall' league
Kuala Lumpur: While finalizing a family car, any customer ensures that it is well packed with safety aspects or at least it has all the safety elements which are publicized by the manufacturer in its marketing campaign. Here are some of those recent recalls by 'Big Auto Brands' which have grabbed our attention -
Honda Civic 2016 – Piston problem
Compromise in safety is nowhere acceptable and the latest to release a recall statement is Honda. The renowned automaker has issued a recall notification for its Honda Civic 2016. The Japanese giant is recalling Civic models manufactured between September 2015 and the first week of February 2016 in the U.S. According to the company, the problem is with the piston assembly where either the piston wrist pin circlip is inaccurately placed or it is not at all installed. The company estimates to recall approximately 34000 Honda Civic 2016 units which are sold to customers or sent to dealerships in the United States between the aforementioned time frame. While issuing the recall alert, Honda has also ensured the customers that the service bulletin for the faulty 2016 Civic sedan will be issued by mid-March 2016. Also, Honda is gearing up to rectify the issue by June 2016 or earlier.
Toyota – Takata airbags
Recently, Toyota also recalled Land Cruiser (2003-2004), 4Runner (2004-2006), LX 470 (2003-2006), GX 470 (2004-2006) and Tundra & Sequoia (2005-2006) models sold in the U.S. over the airbags with no 'Takata' imprinted on them. Approximately 320,000 faulty car recalls have been made by Toyota which needs replacements of the airbags with the proper ones. The world's largest automotive company is making both ends meet to solve this problem at an early date and a special service campaign would be announced for corrective measures. However, the massive Takata airbags recall put the big manufacturer under the scanner for taking the safety of the customers lightly. Apart from Toyota, 7 other auto manufacturers - Mercedes-Benz, Tesla, Volvo Trucks, Suzuki, Land Rover, Volkswagen Group and Spartan Motors have issued Takata airbags recall notice to their customers.
Ferrari – Faulty fuel pipe
Ferrari is also on the list, well you can't expect such mistakes from this Italian house but then it happened. Ferrari faulty fuel pipe recall was a much hyped and talked about topic in North America which grabbed the attention of auto enthusiasts. The elite brand recalled Ferrari California T in December 2015 for a manufacturing defect in the fuel pipe of this particular model. The flawed low fuel line of California T could lead to big disaster by allowing fuel to flow into the engine bay during fuel refilling. The company expects that as many as 185 units have this manufacturing problem which was produced between September 8, 2015 and November 11, 2015. Ferrari has already started with the recalling and rectification process.
