Maserati has revamped the iconic design of the two-seater grand tourer by borrowing a few details from the MC20 sports car. However, some of the bits from the previous version designed by Pininfarina have been carried forward.
The striking front has an oval-shaped Maserati grille as the main attraction with the ‘Trident’ logo in the middle. We can see two scoops on the bonnet assumed to be there for better airflow. The headlights are slim and vertical paired with thin L-shaped daytime running lamps.
With an overall profile similar to the predecessor, the car features three rectangular air vents on the front fenders. The glasshouse design also looks very familiar. However, the pull-out door handles of the older model are replaced by the flush-fitting ones.
Stealing all the attention at the rear are thin LED tail lights connected via a thin chrome strip, quad exhaust pipes and a diffuser.
Alongside unveiling the new Granturismo exterior, Maserati has also confirmed that the upcoming super-GT will be powered by a twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine borrowed from the MC20. However, power figures are not yet known. Under the bonnet of the supercar, the engine delivers a maximum power of 630 hp and a peak torque of 730 Nm.
The electric derivative of the coupe, the Granturismo Folgore, was also teased recently during the 2022 Monterey Car Week. Maserati design boss Klaus Busse claims that the EV will complete the century sprint in a mere 2.6 seconds, with a top speed of 322 kmph and an 800-volt charging architecture. With these figures, Granturismo EV is supposed to be the most powerful and quickest version of the super GT.
While there is no information on EV’s drivetrain setup yet, it is likely to get the stuff from the upcoming electric Grecale that has the potential to deliver 800 Nm of peak torque,
That’s all for now. Stay tuned with us for the full reveal of the 2023 Maserati GranTurismo that is expected to happen soon.
