GWM Cannon Ultra pickup truck up for grabs in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: First showcased at the Malaysia Auto Show 2023, the GWM Cannon Ultra has now made its way to the local roads. Great Wall Motor is offering the first batch of the pickup truck comprising 66 units, in conjunction with the celebration of Malaysia’s 66th year of independence. 

While no official details are yet available on the GWM Cannon Ultra price, the Facebook post of one of the brand’s dealers in Malaysia tells that the pickup truck is priced at RM 127,800 (on-the-road without insurance).

The new GWM pickup truck will compete against the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, and Isuzu D-Max in the local market. It boasts a “grand” looking exterior with a large chrome grille on the front complemented by a huge badge and auto LED headlights with chrome inserts. Also part of the exterior kit are LED tail lights, powered side mirrors, chrome door handles, an integrated tailgate step, and 18-inch dual-tone alloys.

Powering the GWM Cannon is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, which delivers a maximum power of 163 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission mated to a four-wheel drive system, a locking differential, and selectable drive modes.
