Get ready to welcome a new pickup truck, the JMC Vigus Pro
KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read it right. The Malaysian automotive market will soon welcome a brand new pickup truck that goes by the name JMC Vigus Pro. Obviously, the components in the name are unknown to all, so let's first do a little background check and then move forward with the specifications.
JMC here stands for Jiangling Motor Corporation which is a state-owned Chinese automaker. Last July, JMC and Angka-Tan Motors (a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings that is owned by Tan Chong Group) signed a 'Vehicle Technology Licensing' agreement. Under this arrangement, ATM gets full rights to assemble and sell the JMC Vigus Pro 4X4 pickup in the country. Furthermore, ATM will also manufacture parts and components for the pickup and offer it across 13 outlets in Malaysia.
Time to move on to the upcoming pickup's specs -
JMC Vigus Pro engine
Powering the Vigus Pro is a 2.0-litre 4-cyl VGT turbodiesel mill that pumps out a maximum power of 141 PS at 3,600 rpm along with a peak torque of 340 Nm from 1,500 to 2,600 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission system and BorgWarner 4WD system with rear differential lock from Eaton.
The company claims the powertrain to deliver a class-leading fuel economy of 12.82 kmpl.
Well, that's it on the specification front, we know no more as ATM plans to finalise the details within this month.
JMC Vigus Pro price will be revealed along with the rest of the specs soon. So, hold tight guys.
Interested customers can check out the JMC Vigus Pro pickup at ATM's Klang located flagship showroom. Or check the pickup out at the brand's Facebook page.
