Get ready for the new Lamborghini Countach
KUALA LUMPUR: Not many know, but Lamborghini first unveiled the Countach in 1971, i.e., almost 50 years ago. The automaker manufactured around 2000 units of the car from 1974 to 1990 and now we hear a new Countach is on its way. Excited? We are for sure!
Lamborghini announced the car’s arrival via a short and sweet message that read, “Future is our legacy. And the new Lamborghini Countach is coming. Stay tuned…"
The new Countach is coming to honour the iconic supercar’s 50th anniversary and its official name tag reads Lamborghini Countach LPI800-4.
We don’t have much information in hand but from its name, it appears to be a hybrid model. How? Well the term ‘LPI’ actually stands for ‘longitudinale posteriore ibrido’ that in English translates to ‘hybrid rear longitudinal’.
Furthermore, this one is expected to be an all-wheel-drive model making close to 800 PS of power. Lamborghini Sian, the brand’s first production hybrid supercar pumps out almost similar power output, i.e785 PS to be exact.
Now, while the Sian uses a supercapacitor hybrid par, we aren’t sure what hybrid system the Countach will get. Will it be a more developed supercapacitor system or a more conventional one? We’ll have to wait and watch.
Don’t worry, the D-day is not far away. The car’s global unveiling is scheduled for 15th August at the Monterey Car Week.
