KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai’s luxury arm Genesis has recently pulled the wraps off an all-new prototype, the Neolun Concept at Genesis House New York. The new Genesis concept is the brand’s first full-size electric SUV that aims to redefine luxury and technology and offer an unparalleled experience behind the wheel. 

The name "Neolun" merges "neo" (Greek for new) and "luna" (Latin for moon), reflecting Genesis' innovative tech and futuristic outlook. “The Neolun Concept was inspired by Korea’s iconic moon-shaped porcelain jars,” said Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke. “It’s the epitome of timeless design and sophisticated craftsmanship.”

The key highlights of the Genesis Neolun Concept are as follows - 

• The Neolun Concept's exterior focuses on "reductive design," emphasizing clean lines and minimalistic details
• The car features coach doors, which lack B-pillars, offering an open interior and easy access for passengers. Notably, these B-pillarless coach doors are now viable for production vehicles

• The SUV is equipped with electric side steps that automatically deploy for passenger convenience and retract seamlessly into the vehicle when doors close
• Other notable exterior features include body-integrated lamps and a pop-up roof rack contributing to the concept’s unique identity and sleek design 
• Furthermore, the two-tone "Midnight Black" and "Majestic Blue" paintwork inspired by Korea's serene night sky enhances the vehicle’s overall elegance

• Inside, the Neolun Concept's cabin highlights Korea's hospitality culture, offering spaciousness and comfort
• It features a radiant heating system, inspired by Korea's traditional "ondol" concept, that utilizes direct heat transfer underneath the floor and provides efficient heating throughout the cabin
• The cabin incorporates Royal Indigo cashmere and Purple Silk leather seats for a cosy feel. These materials, along with aluminium accents and dark wood flooring, create a harmonious ambience
• Front-row seats come with a swivelling function, capable of rotating 180 degrees, allowing occupants to freely adjust the front-row seats in any desired direction depending on the situation
• The SUV also houses a large adjustable display screen and a flexible rear-seat display

• There is an advanced sound system with strategically placed speakers and a rotating crystal sphere enhances the audio experience, creating a concert hall-like feel inside the cabin
• Also part of the kit is a rotary column-type shift-by-system that has been integrated seamlessly into the steering wheel. This driver-centric UX not only prioritizes safety but also offers superior aesthetics

Genesis has yet to disclose the performance, powertrain specifications, and pricing of the Neolun Concept.
