Genesis G70 Shooting Brake to debut soon
KUALA LUMPUR: The year 2021 will see the arrival of Hyundai’s luxury car division brand, Genesis in Europe. The first car the brand announced to step on the continent was the G70 sedan and now we hear that the G70 Shooting Brake is prepared to follow.
It was only recently that Genesis released a few images of the G70 wagon version giving us a rough idea of the offering. Do you remember the G70 sedan last year’s facelift highlight, the Athletic Elegance design theme? It has now become a part of the model lineup, meaning the Shooting Brake will benefit from it but with an extended roofline that leads to a pronounced liftgate and rear spoiler.
The official teaser images mainly focus on the car’s rear profile showing the taillight with the brand’s signature ‘two lines’ graphic that leads up to the tailgate. Also visible are oval exhaust tips like the ones seen on the sedan version. Furthermore, the lower bumper design is carried forward from the sedan.
The premium automaker has not released any interior image, however, we expect it matches its sedan sibling with a 10.25-inch infotainment system. Additional bodywork is a given for additional boot space.
The model’s under the hood configuration is not revealed yet. The G70 sedan, however, is offered in two mill options - a Theta II 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine pumping a maximum power of 255 PS along with a peak torque of 535 Nm. Next up is a Lambda II 3.3-litre V6 turbo unit making 370 PS and 510 Nm. In its home country, the sedan is also turned with a 202 PS/441 Nm 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. On the transmission front, it’ll get a 6-speed manual unit paired with the 2.0-litre mill, the rest will be coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
On the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake arrival, we only know that it will make its debut soon with no other details provided.
