Genesis G70 facelift fully revealed in South Korea
KUALA LUMPUR: The four-door executive sedan from Genesis, the G70 recently got its first major facelift since it was introduced in 2017. Last month, the Korean automaker provided the first glimpse of the 2022 Genesis G70 and now it unveiled the updated sedan in full.
The new G70 features the brand's new styling borrowed from the G80 along with the changes made to the powertrain, infotainment, and safety assistance features.
The styling updates comprise a new quad headlight design with thin LEDs, a low-slung crest grille, a parabolic character line, and new wheel designs. At the back, the luxury sedan now houses the matching quad taillights and ‘GENESIS’ lettering on the decklid. Genesis also added some new exterior colours to the existing palette, these are Sedona Brown, Verbier White, Tasman Blue, Melbourne Grey, and Bond Silver.
Coming to the glasshouse changes, the all-new Genesis G70 gets acoustic glass on the windshield and front doors resulting in a quieter and more comfortable cabin. The sedan comes with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice recognition technology as well as Genesis CarPay, which allows the driver to pay for gas or parking without leaving the car.
Other changes include an upgraded 8-inch instrument panel, built-in dashcam, and NFC-operated digital key tech. The buyers can also opt for a wireless charger, which is now faster than before, according to the automaker.
On the mechanical front, the new Genesis G70 facelift gets three engine options. The first is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol mill churning out 252 PS of maximum power and 353 Nm of peak torque. Next on the list is 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo unit rated at 370 PS and 510 Nm. And, the only diesel engine is a 2.2-litre turbo generating 202 PS and 441 Nm. The luxury sedan also features a dynamic all-wheel-drive configuration offering a built-in drift mode. A new Sports+ drive mode further optimizes the programming of engine and transmission.
Genesis packed the luxury sedan facelifted version with tons of driver assistance features incorporating blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, forward collision-avoidance assist, safe exit warning, rear cross traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane following assist, multi collision braking, and smart cruise control.
The upcoming model will go on sale in its home market first and later in other markets.
