Geely's first premium EV rolls out of production line
KUALA LUMPUR: Geely Zeekr 001 is the brand's first electric vehicle that has been in the news for quite a while and now it has entered full-scale production.

The EV rolled off the production line at a special ceremony that took place at the new Zeekr Intelligent Factory in Ningbo, China. Speaking of this new facility, it is one of the most advanced, up to date plants with 5G+ system allowing for agile and transparent production management. Several sections like the welding zone are fully automated with over 300 robots working with limited human intervention.
Furthermore, the new Zeekr production facility ensures high-quality of each Zeekr car via continuous optimization. Take the welding for instance, here monitoring systems like glue application, online measurement, visual guidance, and ultrasonic self-inspection use intelligent self-adaptation that continuously improves the process.
The EV was launched in April 2021 and since then Geely and Zeekr made a lot of improvements. For instance, the Zeekr now comes with better Over-The-Air communications improving the car's Assisted Driver system.
Zeekr 001 key highlights -
- The Geely EV is underpinned by automaker's latest Sustainable Electric Architecture platform which promises to be modular, cost-efficient, and high performance
- The Zeekr 001 belongs to the large Sport E segment with a size similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series
- The range-topping Zeekr 001 'YOU' variant comes with a large 100 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor setup
- Total system output rests at 544 hp and 768 Nm of torque, helping the EV complete the century sprint in just 3.8 seconds
