GAC Malaysia expands GS3 EMZOOM line-up with CKD models - From RM104k

KUALA LUMPUR:  WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd (WTCA), a subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, has broadened its GAC GS3 EMZOOM range in Malaysia by adding two new locally-assembled variants.

This move marks a significant milestone in WTCA's localisation efforts, following the launch of the fully imported (CBU) GS3 EMZOOM back in April 2024.

The new variants—GS3 EMZOOM Standard and GS3 EMZOOM Exclusive—join the flagship Premium R, completing the locally-assembled B-segment SUV line-up.

All three versions are powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering 177 PS and 270 Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7WDCT).

This combination results in an impressive 0-100 km/h sprint of just 8.0 seconds, while maintaining a fuel efficiency of 5.9 litres per 100 km, meeting Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) standards.

The design of the GS3 EMZOOM continues to impress with its futuristic aesthetic, defined by features like the Mecha Wing grille, Laser Eye Split LED headlights, and electric hidden door handles.

At the rear, Light Dart tail lights and a sporty spoiler add to the SUV’s dynamic look, complemented by 18-inch alloy wheels on all models. The Premium R variant stands out with its R-Style Sport Package and unique exhaust system.

Inside, the cabin is spacious, thanks to the SUV’s segment-leading 2,650-mm wheelbase. All variants sport a stylish blue-and-black interior, with a crystal electronic gear shift and a multifunction steering wheel offering four-way tilt and telescopic adjustments.

Tech-wise, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android mirroring is standard, along with advanced safety features like Blind Spot Vision (BSV) and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. 

The Premium R variant adds several exclusive luxury features, including a panoramic sunroof, hands-free power tailgate, and six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. “The GAC GS3 EMZOOM was enthusiastically and well received by the motoring public when we launched it as a CBU model back in April,” said Tan Keng Meng, CEO of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd.

“The completion of the CKD project for this model is only the beginning of GAC's journey here in Malaysia, alongside the strides we have made in the EV sector with the GAC Aion Y Plus.”

In line with its efforts to strengthen the brand’s presence, WTCA has appointed Jack Lim, a popular Malaysian radio and TV personality, as the official brand ambassador for GAC Malaysia. Known for his work as a DJ for MYFM 101.8FM and his various roles in entertainment, Lim’s values of trust and quality align well with GAC’s “Where Craft Meets Technology” philosophy.

“I am incredibly honoured to be associated with the brand in my capacity as the official brand ambassador of GAC Malaysia,” said Lim. “It is easy to understand why GAC is hugely successful in its home market in China, where fierce competition is abundant.”

The 2024 GAC GS3 EMZOOM CKD models are competitively priced, starting at RM103,800 for the Standard variant, RM116,800 for the Exclusive, and RM126,800 for the Premium R. Available colours vary by variant, with the Premium R offering an exclusive Graphite Grey finish, complemented by sporty orange trim.

WTCA has also introduced the “Rev Up with EMZOOM” campaign to celebrate the CKD milestone, offering cash rebates and promotional prices on the GS3 EMZOOM Exclusive and Premium R.

The campaign runs until 31 December 2024, with additional benefits like extended warranties and a complimentary smart watch key for early customers.
