Four-star safety rating for VinFast VF e34 EV

KUALA LUMPUR: VinFast VF e34 has been awarded a four-star safety rating by the New Car Assessment Program for South Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).

For those who aren't aware, the VF e34 is the first electric car by the Vietnamese carmaker VinFast and the first to face the 2021-2025 protocol. A few of its cars assessed the old protocol including the Lux SA2.0, Lux A2.0, and Fadil.

VinFast VF e34 EV ASEAN NCAP safety rating highlights -

• The EV missed out on a 5-star safety rating, it obtained an accumulated safety score of 78.99 points
• In adult occupant protection the EV managed to perform well and scored 35.92 points out of 40 points
• In child occupant protection and motorcyclist safety tests, the VF e34 scored 17.71 points out of 20 points and 12.50 points out of 20 points, respectively
• In the safety assist category, the car scored 12.86 out of 20 points

The VinFast VF e34 is priced at VND 90,000 million (approx RM 131,445) and benefits from inclusions like - LED headlamps, 18-inch alloys, a tire pressure monitor, manual air-con system, a 7-inch digital instrument panel, a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen system, and Android Auto & Apple CarPlay support.

The EV is powered by a front-mounted motor making 150 PS and 242 Nm of torque. The electric motor is powered by a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers an electric-only range of 285 km. Charging is taken care of by a 7.5 kW AC input (full charge in less than 5 hours) and 250 kW DC fast charging (180 km range in 18 mins).
