Ford unveils a blacked-out Ranger

KUALA LUMPUR: Without a doubt, black is a color that resembles class and premium-ness. And what better than having your favourite pickup truck in an all-black edition? Ford has finally heard the prayers and has unveiled a special edition of the popular pickup truck Ranger. Currently showcased at the Sao Paulo Auto International Motor Show in Brazil, the all-black pickup is called the “Urban Black Concept”. Ford is further targetting the special Ranger towards the “modern and sophisticated crowd”.

The special edition Ranger is poured in black, and we are serious about it. All you see is black. The door handles, ORVMs, the 18-inch alloy wheels all are dipped in black. Sitting in the centre of the metallic grille at the front is the Ford logo. The pickup now looks even more stylish than before. There are also present running boards, and the fender flares all finished in matte black. The taillights now feature clear covers instead of the conventional ones. There is an integrated stoplight in the sports bars as well.

The black is not just limited to the exterior of the Ranger. The seats get black leather and interior fittings are finished in gloss black along with faux metal. The all-black edition of the Ranger is equipped with automatic climate control, automatic headlights, electronically-adjustable driver's seat, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 3, and rain-sensing wipers.

Under the hood of this special Ford Ranger is a 3.2-litre 5-pot turbo-diesel Duratorq motor. This particular engine is capable of pumping out 200 PS of max power and 470 Nm of peak torque. 6-speed automatic transmission with a 4WD system takes care of power delivery.

The all-black Ford Ranger is, however, just a concept at the moment. But with the amount of interest shown by people in the special edition, Ford might bring out the production model soon.
