Ford Raptor Rev: Malaysia’s first off-road event for Ranger Raptor owners draws a crowd

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (Auto ConneXion), the official distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, recently hosted the inaugural Ford Raptor Rev, an all out off-roading event, specifically created for the Ford Ranger Raptor super truck.

Held over two days at Bay 13 near Sepang International Circuit, the event brought together Ford Ranger Raptor owners and off-road enthusiasts for an action-packed day of workshops, training sessions, and hands-on experiences.

Ranger Raptor owners who registered for the event had the opportunity to participate in workshops and training sessions that focused on jumping, drifting, tackling 4x4 obstacle trails, and Baja lap training.

Chris Dean, a Ford expert flown in from Australia who also worked on the development of the Next Gen Ranger Raptor, led an in-depth workshop that delved into the mechanics of the Ranger Raptor’s FOX suspension system. His session provided attendees with insights into how the Baja-inspired suspension enhances the truck’s performance in high-speed, rugged terrains.

Beyond its powerhouse twin-turbo petrol 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 engine—specially tuned by Ford Performance to churn out an impressive 397 PS at 5,650 rpm and a massive 583 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm—the Ranger Raptor's true standout feature is its advanced FOX suspension system. This setup transforms the truck into an off-road beast, especially when tackling high-speed off road terrain.

At the heart of this system are FOX’s 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shock absorbers and race-proven Bottom-Out Control, both designed to deliver exceptional ride comfort and precise handling. 

Supporting this suspension is a reinforced chassis, featuring unique mounts and reinforcements for the C-pillar, cargo bed, and spare wheel, along with specially engineered frames for the jounce bumper, shock tower, and rear shock bracket—all of which help the next-gen Ranger Raptor thrive in the most punishing off-road conditions.

Experiencing the Ranger Raptor in action at Ford Malaysia’s Raptor Rev playground was truly something special. For the first time, owners and spectators alike witnessed the full potential of its high-performance engineering as the truck tackled the rugged terrain with ease, feeling right at home in its natural element.

As mentioned, the event wasn't limited to Raptor owners—members of the public also enjoyed a day of excitement with free access to various activities. Visitors experienced the Raptor’s Baja mode through hot laps with professional drivers, took test drives on both on-road and off-road courses, and explored food trucks, live performances, and exclusive giveaways.

Attendees had the chance to see popular personalities such as actor and motor enthusiast Ezzrin Loy, footballer and 4x4 fan Intan Serah, former national bowler Syaidatul Afifah, and professional drifter Hee Wei Seng—taking hot laps with lucky fans in the Ranger Raptor. Fans also had the opportunity to snap selfies and meet their favorite stars.

With 80 Ranger Raptor owners participating, the event drew a crowd of spectators keen to see the truck’s capabilities in action. “We are proud to have brought together the Ranger Raptor community for this unique off-road experience. BFGoodrich Showcases New KO3 Tyres

As the event's main partner, BFGoodrich also provided expert technical support and hosted tyre-focused workshops aimed at improving attendees’ knowledge of off-road driving. The brand showcased its newly launched KO3 tyres, designed for enhanced durability and performance on rough terrain.
