Ford introduces limited-edition 2020 Ranger Thunder

Ford introduces limited-edition 2020 Ranger Thunder

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ford Ranger is one capable pickup, and there is no denying this fact. With its dashing look, high-tech cabin, and torque-packed turbo engine, the Ranger scours not only a perfect ten for its looks but also its performance.

If you think it can’t get any better than this, well, you must hear what’s Ford has in store. The Blue Oval company has introduced a limited-edition Ranger variant that looks like one mean machine. Called the 2020 Ford Ranger Thunder, it is based on the range-topping Wildtrak model and combines tough looks and performance.

On the exterior, the new Ranger Thunder gets neat touches of red highlights on the grille and sports bar. Special ‘Thunder’ badge makes an appearance on the door and taillight, also finished in red they enhance the pickup’s exterior profile. Giving perfect contrast to the red accents allover are several blacked-out elements like door handles, front grille, skid plate, rear bumper, and foglight bezels. Also, both the headlights and taillights get a smoked finish.

Open the door, and the same overpowering bold-look will greet you. The Thunder is draped in Ebony Black leather with red contrast stitching. The seats also get a unique ‘Thunder’ red embroidery that will remind owners of the car’s limited-edition specialty. The floor mats are also finished in black with red accents.

The limited-edition Ranger Thunder is powered by a 2.0-litre Eco-Blue bi-turbo diesel engine that pumps out 213 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission with a four-wheel drive system.

Hans Schep, general manager, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe, said, “With an edgier look for customers who aren’t afraid to be noticed, the new Ranger Thunder will be an unmistakable presence. This capable, comfortable, and stylish addition to Europe’s best-selling pickup range is as tough and versatile as it is charismatic.”

A total of 4,500 units of the 2020 Ford Ranger Thunder will be built, of which 1,400 are for the UK. The rest will be available across Europe. There is no word from Ford about Thunder’s availability in other parts of the world.
