Ford celebrates Ranger’s sales success via a limited-edition model
KUALA LUMPUR: Last year, Ford Europe sold 42,941 units of Ranger. Thus making it the best-selling pickup followed by Hilux with 25,331 deliveries. Now, the American automaker is celebrating the Ranger’s success with the launch of a limited edition model, called the Ranger Raptor Special Edition.
Based on the flagship Ranger Raptor variant, the limited edition model gets visual upgrades that add to the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal, both inside and out. The Ranger Raptor Special Edition will be a Europe-limited model with sales commencing from October 2021. Interested buyers will then have an opportunity to choose between the standard Ranger Raptor, Ranger MS-RT, Ranger Wolfrak, and Ranger Stormtrak.
Let’s now discuss the Ranger Raptor Special Edition model specs & features -
Design
On the design front, the Ranger Raptor Special Edition model features twin matte black racing stripes with contrast red lines. They extend from the hood through the roof to the lower body sides, rear wings, and tailgate. The matte black finish is seen on the radiator grille, front bumper, door handles, and rear bumper. The front tow hooks are clearly visible in a red hue.
Speaking of hues, the Ranger Raptor Special Edition is available in three exterior colour options - Frozen White, Performance Blue, and Conquer Grey.
Cabin
Open the door and you will be greeted by a sportier layout compared to the standard variants. All thanks to the red stitching making appearances on the door cards, steering wheel, and instrument panel. Adding to its premium-ness is the model exclusive leather upholstery and a Raceway Grey instrument cluster.
Engine
As for its under the hood configuration, everything from its chassis to powertrain remains the same as Ranger Raptor. Meaning, the special edition model will also source power from a 2.0-litre twin-turbo EcoBlue diesel engine making a maximum power of 213 PS and a peak torque of 500 Nm. The power will be sent to the wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the Terrain Management System supports the driver during difficult off-road situations. Also, it’ll feature the same wide track and ride height as the Ranger Raptor (some of its strongest suits).
Ford has even released a film called ‘The Good, the Bad and the Bad-RSE’ that shows the Ranger Raptor Special Edition model in its full glory. Go, check it out on the Ford Europe YouTube page.
