Folks pay attention, Lexus's first EV model in Malaysia is open for booking

KUALA LUMPUR: Lexus Malaysia is now accepting bookings for its very first electric car, the RZ. So, if you are someone who has been thinking of buying an electric car then here’s a great option for you to check out.

But before you head out to check out the EV in person, here are a few of its details that’ll help you make a better decision. So, let’s get started.

All-new Lexus RZ: Key highlights

Variants and price: The Lexus RZ is offered locally in just a sale variant option, the RZ450e, which is priced at RM 429,888. Included in the price kit is an 8-year/unlimited mileage warranty for the car’s EV battery, ECU, and inverter.

Platform: Underpinning the RZ EV is an e-TNGA platform that also supports the likes of Toyota bZ4x and the Subaru Solterra.

Exterior features: The all-electric premium Lexus SUV looks stunning with its well-sculpted body which is loaded with several pieces of equipment including -

• Single Projector Bi-AHS LED headlights
• Lexus Signature LED daytime running lights (DRLs)
• LED taillights with the Lexus Signature L-bar design
• 20-inch alloy wheels in Black and Bright Machined Finish

Interior Features: Like the outside, the Lexus RZ’s cabin showcases an inviting front thanks to its warm Grayscale Ultrasuede Leather upholstery with Tsuyasumi Trim. Other than that the SUV features -

Powertrain: Powering the Lexus RX450e EV is a dual-motor setup that pumps out a maximum power of 313 hp along with a peak torque of 435 Nm. The power is transmitted to all four wheels via the Direct4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Performance: The above-mentioned power configuration enables the EV to complete a century sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 160 kmph.

Battery pack, range, charging: Powering the dual-motor is a 71.4 kWh battery that enables the EV to offer a range of 440 km (WLTP). As for charging, the RX450e receives AC charging at a maximum rate of 11 kW and DC charging at a maximum rate of 150 kW. While the former fully charges the battery in just 6.5 hours, the latter takes the battery from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Safety: The EV benefits from Lexus Safety System+ ADAS suite that includes -

• Front Pre-Collision System (PCS)
• Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) with Stop & Go Function and Curve Speed Reduction
• Lane Keeping System (LKS)
• Road Sign Assist (RSA)

Colour options: The Lexus RZ is offered in six exterior colour options namely, the Sonic Quartz, Sonic Chrome, Sonic Iridium, Graphite Black, Sonic Cooper, and Aether Metallic.
