Five-star safety rating for Hyundai Ioniq 6

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently that the European New Car Assessment Programme (EURO NCAP) conducted safety tests on 14 cars. Part of the list is cars like Toyota bZ4x, smart #1 EV, Tesla Model S, and many more.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 was also part of the EURO NCAP list of cars on which the authority conducted crash tests. Hyundai's all-electric car scored a perfect 5-star rating.

The EURO NCAP crash test includes four separate sections namely, Adult Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road Users Protection, Child Occupant Protection, and Safety Assist. The high scores achieved by the EV in these individual tests helped Hyundai achieve the perfect score of 5/5. The below-mentioned table gives the score details -

Hyundai Ioniq 6: Key safety specs

• Seven airbags as standard
• Hyundai SmartSense Advanced Driver Assistance System including Highway Driving Assist 2 helps the EV maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead while keeping it in the center lane

• Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC) helps the car learn the driver/owner’s driving style
• The EVs safety kit also includes Lane-Changing Side along with Evasive Steering Assist, Junction Turning, and Lane-Changing Oncoming
• Driver Attention Warning (DAW) system, an attention-related function helps the Ioniq 6 analyze driver’s attention and provide warnings as and when needed

Hyundai Ioniq 6 in Malaysia

While we still miss out on the Ioniq 6, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was launched in Malaysia earlier this year in March 2022. It is the second electric car in the brand’s local lineup after the Kona electric.
