Ferrari’s new supercar debut set for June 24
KUALA LUMPUR: After unveiling the V12-powered Competizione back in April, Ferrari now gears up for the debut of its new supercar. It recently released a video teaser of the upcoming model that does not give much indication about what the car might be. The 1-minute long clip features FDA Esports racer and F1 Pro Series World Champion David Tonizza telling his thoughts on ‘fun to drive.”
While keeping numb on the ‘revolutionary’ supercar details, Ferrari does reveal its debut date i.e. June 24, 2021. Well, before that let’s dig out some reports and speculations available at this moment.
Firstly, the Ferrari’s upcoming model is widely reported as a replacement for the F8 Tributo that may go with the name Dino. However, it is internally codenamed as the F171. We also hear that it might borrow the Nettuno powertrain from the Maserati MC20 although it is just opposite to the brand’s chief engineer’s statement who earlier mentioned Nettuno as exclusively built for the MC20. Chances are likely that Ferrari engineers may re-tune this powertrain and call it something else.
Contrary to this, some reports suggest that it will adopt a plug-in hybrid powertrain much like the SF90 Stradale, with a maximum power output of over 700 hp. If it stands true, the McLaren Artura will be its direct competitor. Further, the battery pack is also alleged to be carried over from the SF90 Stradale with a limited all-electric cruising range.
In terms of design, it is hard to get any clue as the teaser does not give away a single shot for that matter. Also, the car spied while road testing was wrapped in heavy camouflages and body cladding. But, if we go by the signs, we expect a design similar to the SF90 Stradale. Just like the exterior, the car’s interior details also remain a mystery at this time.
Well, for the confirmation on all these speculations we need to wait for the supercar’s debut which is just a few days away. Ferrari other models in the works are the Purosangue crossover and the LaFerrari hypercar successor.
