Ferrari's first SUV, the Purosangue to arrive in 2022
KUALA LUMPUR: As per a report from Car magazine, Ferrari will launch its very first SUV in early 2022. Codenamed F175, it will form the base for a range of practical models wearing the coveted prancing horse.
The range-topping variant of the Ferrari Purosangue is expected to be powered by an 800 hp making V12 mill. However, at the time of launch, it will be accompanied by a 4.0-litre V8 hybrid mill with a combined output of 700 hp. It is said to come with height-adjustable air suspension that'll deliver more ground clearance as per requirement.
The Car magazine goes on to mention the presence of suicide rear doors that are achieved by removing the B-pillars. However, we aren't sure about the same, as the test mules spotted so far had regular rear doors.
Following the Purosangue, will be two SUVs, that for now bear the code name F244 and F245 and said to share the platform with their older sibling, the F175. While the Purosangue will be powered by a hybrid mill, as mentioned above, the following SUVs will lose the combustion engine fully. As per the report, the said platform can accommodate up to four motors, delivering a combined output of 610 hp.
When will the F244 and F245 arrive? Though nothing can be said for sure, their expected arrival is stipulated somewhere in 2024 and 2026, respectively.
With Ferrari entering the SUV arena (thus opening up a potential market for itself) it won't be long before we see others like Bugatti and McLaren showing off their take on the segment. Atleast that's what we hope, only time will tell if these brands invest in the segment.
