KUALA LUMPUR: Its been almost two months since Ferrari temporarily suspended production in its Italy-based factories - Maranello and Modena plants. And now operations in these plants have resumed.
It was in mid-March when Ferrari officially closed the doors of its two plants due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and now the company announced to resume operations from May 8, 2020, fully.
The automaker has set up a ‘Back on Track’ program to built cars again but with all the necessary precautions. It involves the implementation of certain practices that’ll lower the risk of virus transmission at the workplace.
Some of the practices put in place are -
- Checking of employees body temperature
- Reorganising factories environment
- Maintaining the appropriate distance between workers
In addition to the above mentioned precautionary measures, Ferrari has also provided workers with PPEs as a means to create a safe working environment. Before resuming work, the employees will be offered a voluntary serology test for coronavirus, ensuring they are not infected with the disease.
As for the employees involved in business-related activities, they will continue to work-from-home or other remote working conditions to minimise the spread of the virus in Italy. To date, Italy has registered over 213,000 confirmed cases, 85,231 recoveries, and more than 29,000 deaths.
During the temporary closure of Ferrari factories, the automaker decided to contribute in the fight against COVID-19 by making respirator valves and fittings used in respirators. Also, the automaker, along with several clients, raised EUR 1 million for coronavirus fund.
