Extended warranty for pre-owned BMW Hybrid cars by SDAS

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, that’s right. Sime Darby Auto Selection, the official distributor of BMW cars in Malaysia, has introduced a new Extended Warranty Programme. Called the +HYBRID, the programme covers pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid cars.

Launched by BMW Malaysia in association with Guard My Ride (GMR) and RHB Insurance, the +HYBRID programme is the first of its kind in the local market and is exclusive to SDAS.

How will the +HYBRID warranty programme offer peace of mind to pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid cars? Under the programme, the owners will benefit from comprehensive warranty coverage for the following -

• Battery Management Electronics (SME)
• Electrical Machine Electronics (EME)
• Integrated Motor Generator (Electric Motor)
• High Voltage Battery Cell

Who will benefit from SDAS’s latest warranty programme? Every pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrid car retailed by SDAS will benefit from the +HYBRID programme by default. As for the previously purchased units (before the launch of the programme) may purchase the same from SDAS’s 3S centre.

Vehicle eligibility for SDAS’s +HYBRID programme -

• Mileage of under 140,000 km
• Less than 8 years of age

The programme will offer up to RM15,000 per claim and depending on the car's age and type a total aggregate of up to RM 100,000 per year.

Overall Choong wants SDAS to be a one-stop center for customers looking for pre-owned cars and taking care of all their needs like - good quality, thoroughly checked multi-branded cars, service & repair, and warranty programme.

SDAS has listed some terms and conditions of its +HYBRID which are as follows -

1. Available as an add-on for cars with GMR Extended Warranty
2. Applicable for selected cars - BMW 330e, BMW 530e, BMW 740Le, BMW X5 40e/45e
3. Applicable for cars not more than 8 years or 140,000 km mileage (whichever comes first)
4. This is in line with SDAS’s existing warranty programme
5. There is an RM15,000 limit per claim, on a total aggregate of up to RRM100,000
6. All pre-owned BMW plug-in hybrids must undergo pre-purchase inspection by SDAS
7. There is a 7-day and 500km cooling-off period from the extended warranty coverage starting date and mileage; claims can only be made after this period
8. The warranty covers 4 components namely Electrical Machine Electronics (EME), High-Voltage Battery Cell, Electric Motor and Battery Management Electronics (SME). It excludes programming and wiring
