Citroen C4 Picasso launched in Malaysia, price starting at RM148,888
Kuala Lumpur: An all new MPV is on the shores of Malaysia from the garage of a French carmaker- The Citroen C4 Picasso. Naza Euro Motors, the official distributor of the Citroen brand in Malaysia has officially launched their widely loved MPV model Citroen C4 Picasso in the country. This model has marked Citroen's first launch this year, and it is the second model in the expansion of the company's line-up after the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso launched last year.
Here are some quick facts:
The C4 Picasso can be called a younger sibling to Grand C4 Picasso, it is five-seater unlike the seating space of seven in Grand C4 Picasso. Citroen is the new brand in Malaysia and is trying to gain the trust of Malaysian audience by its most celebrated models. With the launch of the C4 Picasso, the company expects a good response and a considerable share in the pie of ever expanding Malaysian automotive market. However, Citroen's decision of announcing a price hike on its vehicles from January 1st might lose some of its potential customers.
The 5 seater MPV will be priced OTR including GST and insurance at RM148,888, the car will be made available with a five-year warranty that comes with unlimited mileage available in four different colours Stanley Noir Onyx (black), Blanc Banquise (white), Blue Kyanos (blue), Gris Aluminium (grey) and Rouge Rubi (red).
Talking about the powertrain, the car is similarly based on the Peugeot-Citroen’s EMP2 modular platform of the Grand Picasso. This has effectively improved the space of the car on the inside. The car may look compact from the outside, but it has huge space inside for a family of five.
The C4 Picasso engine is powered by a 1.6-litre direct injection unit with a twin-scroll turbocharger that produces 165 PS with 240 Nm of torque. The car is further mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox that distributes the power to its front axle. The C4 Picasso features an excellent powerhouse in this segment, which can take this MPV to 100 kmph in just 9.3 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph.
Apart from this, Citroen has mutated the C4 Picasso’s engine with its in-house THP 165 technology. This has accentuated the C4 Picasso's fuel efficiency to 17.3kmpl also gaining 10 hp in the process and cutting CO2 emissions to 130 g/km.
The French carmaker has tried to create Citroen C4 Picasso for a complete digital driving experience. As a part of which, Citroen has provided a very intuitive and attractive dashboard build around two screens including a 7-inch touchpad and a 12-inch panoramic HD screen. The carmaker has loaded a lot of driving aids to make the car ergonomically perfect. These features include the Park Assist System, Active Cruise Control, Parking assistance (Front and Rear), Dynamic cruise control, Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Monitoring System and a unique electric massage function on drivers seat for ultimate comfort.
On the safety front, the C4 Picasso can be cruised to very high speeds as the carmaker has completely taken care of the safety features in this car. The car features Hill Start Assist and the Electronic Stability Programme which consists of Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD), Electronic Brake Assistance (EBA) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control. Apart from this, the active features include a full layer of 6 airbags with automatic handbrake and automatic activation of hazard warning lights.
On and on, the C4 Picasso is a great buy at RM148,888 with advanced safety features and next-gen interior technologies. The French carmaker has played smart with C4 Picasso as there are no competitors of its accord in the Malaysian market at the moment.
