China recovers from coronavirus, reopening factories
KUALA LUMPUR: While most of the world’s production activities have come to a halt due to the coronavirus, China is slowly emerging from the lockdowns and suspensions. As per the Automotive News, several car manufacturers and dealers have resumed their operations and also the flight services have restarted in the country.
The recovery of China from coronavirus is really a sign of relief for the whole world. It is positive news for the automobile industry also. China is the world’s second-largest economy and was hit badly from the coronavirus outbreak and witnessed an extensive lockdown that started during the Lunar New Year in late January.
The car sales in China have also seen the bottom levels last month, but now the industry experts forecast that the sales will be increased gradually as the people are returning to work, production units have started which will push the consumers for shopping as well.
One of the analysts at Sanford C. Bernstein stated, “real-time indicators show that China is restarting its industrial complex. Clearly, the restart is at an early stage, but things are gradually improving.”
With the approval of regional authorities, several car brands including Daimler, BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota, Tesla, Nissan, PSA Group, SAIC, FCA have resumed their production sites.
The joint venture firms of Ford have completely resumed. More than 90% of dealers and 95% of employees are back to their work at FCA. The Gigafactory of Tesla has also increased its capacity by producing 3000 cars in a week. While Toyota has started two regular shifts schedule for increasing the production in Guangzhou and Changchun plants. Volkswagen and Volvo are also bucking up to achieve their production targets,
This positivity also boosts the hopes that everything will be fine in the rest of the world soon.
